The Mahwah Police Department is broken down into Four key elements: Administration, Patrol Division, Investigative Division, and Support Services . The Administrative Divison is comprised of the Chiefs Office, and the Office of Professional Standards, which is responsible for core administrative functions within the Police Department. The Office of Professional Standards is tasked with the responsability to monitor the performance of the Department and develop methods to measure and improve community satisfaction In addition the responsibility of Internal Affairs investigations is included in the Office of Professional Standards.
