ACCREDITATION ASSESSMENT TEAM INVITES PUBLIC COMMENT

Mahwah, NJ (November 26, 2025) The Mahwah Police Department is scheduled for a site-based reaccreditation assessment on December 15-18, 2025, by the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). This process consists of one trained assessor’s rigorous review of policies and procedures, operations, administration and support services to ensure compliance with CALEA national standards.

The Mahwah Police Department must comply with approximately four hundred and fifty (450) standards which in turn, contain over several hundred bulleted sub-standards in order to maintain accredited status. The list of standards can be viewed here: CALEA Law Enforcement Standards

As part of the reaccreditation process, CALEA has created a Public Comment Portal to receive feedback regarding the Mahwah Police Department’s engagements in the community and delivery of public safety services.

Please note CALEA is not an investigatory body and subsequently the public portal should not be used to submit information for such purposes. Additionally, there will be no response other than acknowledgement to submission.
